Our support

The External Funding Service works to support the Children and Young People’s Directorate as well as Schools, Parent Teacher Associations/ Friends of groups and other affiliated groups in maximising their potential in accessing alternative funding.

The team's work is included in Somerset County Councils directory of traded services, Blue Book.

The team provide the following services:

• Bespoke funding research into potential funding opportunities for specific projects

• News and information on grants and external funding via bulletins on the Children and Young People's Directorate Information Exchange (CYPDIeX - formerly SiX)

• Helpline guidance responding to enquiries on all aspects of fundraising, such as:

  • Funding opportunities

  • Applying for funding

  • Acting as critical friend to applications for funding
